Sathosa Corruption : Former CAA Director reveals more details

Former Director of the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) Thushan Gunawardena has once again appeared before the media, stating that the State-owned enterprise Lanka Sathosa is a corrupt institution.

Gunawardena’s earlier revelations had led to the authorities uncovering a large-scale Garlic scam involving officials of the Lanka Sathosa.

He also blamed subject Ministers Bandula Gunawardane and Lasantha Alagiyawanna over their conduct, which led to a complaint being filed at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) by Minister Bandula Gunawardane.

Appearing once again during an interview with senior journalist Chamuditha Samarwickrama, he revealed that large-scale malpractices were being carried out by officials from top to bottom at the Lanka Sathosa.

He called on the authorities to refrain from intimidating and questioning journalists on his previous revelations on the Garlic scam.

“Don’t prevent journalists from doing their duties. The Criminal Investigations Department can question me on the subject. Not only the Garlic scam, but authorities should also look at investigating into the malpractices pertaining to sugar and flour,” he urged. (NewsWire)
