The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) has proposed the issuance of National Identity Card (NIC) numbers to children at the time of their birth.
In a letter addressed to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the GMOA pointed out that issuing a NIC with the same number on or before the age of 16 years will further strengthen children’s rights and wellbeing.
The GMOA highlighted 5 key aspects in which the initiative would benefit the children as well as the future generations of the country. (NewsWire)
