The construction work on the stretch of road from Pamankade junction to Wellawatte on W.A. De Silva Mawatha to be widened into a four-lane road has entered the final phase, Minister of Highways Johnston Fernando has announced.
Issuing a statement, the Minister said this road widening project and the development around the Pamankade Bridge will help ease the traffic along Sri Sambud Jayanthi Mawatha aka Havelock Road.
“We have already widened the Pamankade Bridge which has helped ease the traffic on the Kohuwala- Pamankade Road. The W. A. De Silva Mawatha widening project will ease the traffic along Sri Sambudjayanthi Mawatha further,” the Minister added.
According to Minister Johnston Fernando, the project is said to cost Rs. 210 million.
Meanwhile, he added that the one-way status along the Colombo- Horana Road has been lifted and is now open for two-way traffic. (NewsWire)
