The Cabinet has approved a proposal to implement four projects pertaining to controlling environmental pollution.
The Government said consent has been given for the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation, Specific International Programme belonging to Minamata Convention, United Nation’s Environmental Programme, as well as the Government of Switzerland and the United Nations Industrial Development Programme, to finance the implementation of the four projects.
The projects will be launched in the fields of environmental pollution and chemicals management during the year 2021.
Two projects have been proposed for the management of plastic waste which is covered by the Basel Convention.
Two more projects have been proposed for formulating and educating relevant subjects to mercury management that is covered by the Minamata Convention.
Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal submitted by the Minister of Environment to implement the four projects as well as to enter into applicable agreements with the relevant parties. (NewsWire)
