A 31-year-old female doctor has died due to Covid pneumonia while receiving treatment at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital in Galle, becoming the latest healthcare worker to die due to the virus in Sri Lanka.
The postmortem examination conducted at the hospital yesterday (23) had revealed Covid pneumonia as the cause of death.
The deceased has been identified as Yattowita Tharindi Dilshika Vithanage, who is a resident of Ratmalana.
The female doctor had undergone a PCR test at a private hospital in Colombo on 23rd August after suffering from body ache. The test result had confirmed that she had contracted COVID-19.
