Education Ministry reveals schools reopening plan

The Education Ministry has decided to recommence academic activities for Grades 1-5 in 3884 schools after it was identified that it was not necessary to vaccinate children under the age of 12 against COVID-19.

Secretary to the Education Ministry Professor Kapila Perera said the selected schools will be reopened as part of the first phase of the programme to reopen schools.

He further said that the schools will gradually be reopened under four stages in the future.

The observation was made by the Secretary to the Education Ministry during a press briefing held today to inform the public on the process to be followed with regard to the reopening of schools. (NewsWire)
