Sri Lanka exports cardboard coffins to Vietnam

Sri Lanka today commenced the export of the eco-friendly cardboard coffins that were introduced by the Dehiwala- Mount Lavinia Municipal Council in May 2021 for Covid victims. 

A total of 1200 cardboard coffins were exported for the first time to Vietnam.

The export took place as a result of discussions between the officials of the High Commission of Vietnam in Sri Lanka, monks of Sri Lankan origin in Vietnam, and the Chairman of the Dehiwala- Mount Lavinia Municipal Council.

Priyantha Sahabandu who had created the cardboard coffins and introduced them to the Municipal Council said that the coffins are currently being used islandwide in Sri Lanka. (NewsWire)
