The chief suspect wanted over the death of a 14-year-old boy in the Gajanayakagama area in Weeraketiya, Hambantota has been arrested along with another suspect.
The Police said the two suspects were arrested last night by a team of Police officers while hiding in a forest area in Weeraketiya.
Following interrogations, the Police have conducted a search operation to retrieve the firearm that was used in the shooting which had killed the teenager.
The Police have also taken into custody a locally manufactured firearm from the possession of the second suspect, who was arrested along with the chief suspect.
The two suspects will be produced before the Walasmulla Magistrate’s Court today, while the Weeraketiya Police is conducting further investigations.
The 14-year-old boy was killed after the chief suspect had opened fire during a dispute between two groups of relatives living in the same neighbourhood on Sunday (19).
The chief suspect had fled the area following the incident, while the Police had arrested three other suspects involved in the shooting soon after it had taken place. (NewsWire)
