The islandwide lockdown that is currently in effect in Sri Lanka has been extended by another week.
Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella announced that the lockdown has been extended until 04.00 am on the 13th of September 2021.
A 10-day islandwide lockdown was imposed from the 20th – the 31st of August due to the rapid spread of the Delta variant of the coronavirus.
However, the Government decided to extend the lockdown by another week until the 6th of September on the recommendations of health experts.
The Government has now once again extended the lockdown by an additional week until the 13th of September. (NewsWire)
