Sports Ministry to announce major monetary rewards for Paralympics winners

The Sports Ministry is set to announce major monetary rewards to Sri Lankan Paralympians Dinesh Priyantha Herath and Samitha Dulan Kodithuwakku.

Herath and Kodithuwakku won gold and bronze respectively, in the Men’s Javelin event in the Paralympic Games 2020 held in Tokyo, Japan.

This was the first instance in which Sri Lanka had secured a gold medal in any Olympic or Paralympic event to date. 

According to sources, Herath is to be awarded Rs. 50 million, while Kodithuwakku is to be awarded Rs. 20 million as monetary rewards for their performances. (NewsWire)
