The Mongolian capital, Ulaanbaatar, and other rural areas have been witnessing a decrease in the commitment of a large number of citizens to wearing masks since last June in the season of public holidays and festivals. In this regard, citizens expressed their concern about the spread of positive cases due to non-compliance with wearing masks, as it is considered one of the means of preventing infectious diseases around the world.
“One of the main reasons for not wearing a mask is people relying on the second dose of the vaccine. More than 90 percent of the population received the second dose. In this context, based on the capacity of the vaccine, there is a tendency not to wear masks. On the other hand, the World Health Organization and the Mongolian Health Ministry said, “If you have been vaccinated with the second dose, you will have the right to travel in public places. You don’t have to wear a mask to do that.” The Prime Minister also said that we would be able to take off our masks in two weeks, but the fact that we are still wearing masks remains a vague answer”
“I think people are less likely to wear masks. This is because, depending on the season, you see people traveling without a mask. People are also walking around public places without masks. I think the tendency to wear a mask has diminished because of the belief that you have been vaccinated, that you have been cured, and that you have developed immunity.”
