Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa says that the whole country is undergoing today the consequences of rejecting the opinion of experts and acting in an arbitrary manner.
Opposition Leader told Parliament that everybody should be united to protect lives by understanding the danger Sri Lanka is facing.
He added that the government insulted and laughed at what he predicted from the past and those insults have now entered the country in the guise of death.
He said governments should take immediate action to obtain support through foreign embassies at diplomatic level and that the disaster management mechanism, which has been inactive for a year and a half, should be reactivated and taken advantage of in the event of this disaster.
The Leader of the Opposition said that the health sector, the security forces as well as other sectors of the public service, which are enduring all pressures in performing their services at this critical time, should be given special recognition and their commitment should be properly appreciated by giving adding it the value it deserves.
He said that is an urgent need of a debt management and if not, Sri Lanka could go bankrupt and such a situation should not be allowed to arise.
He said that he does not have political agendas to seize power consequent to such a bankruptcy in the country and that the country should be protected before politics. (NewsWire)
