Three new mutations of the Delta variant of the Covid-19 virus have been identified so far in Sri Lanka.
State Minister Professor Channa Jayasumana revealed the information during the Parliament session held today on the current COVID-19 situation in Sri Lanka.
The mutated variants of the Delta variant found thus far are SA 222V, SA 701S, and SA 1078S, he said.
Professor Jayasuman said the newly identified mutated variants may be the cause for the rapid spread of the virus at present.
He further said the Delta variant has been found to be spreading 60%-70% faster than the previously detected variants. (NewsWire)
