The Police have warned the public once again that stern action will be taken against those violating the quarantine regulations in Sri Lanka.
Police spokesman, Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said reports have been received that the public are failing to wear face masks in public places.
Therefore, special quarantine operations will be conducted to ensure that the public adheres to the quarantine regulations, especially wearing face masks and maintaining social distance, he said.
A total of 130 people have been arrested for violating quarantine regulations, especially for failing to wear face masks, in the 24 hours ending at 06 am today.
Senior DIG Ajith Rohana 97 people in 56 vehicles were also admonished and turned away for attempting to violate the inter-province travel ban which is in effect for the general public.
He said the violators were detected when 6490 people in 3297 vehicles were inspected at the 14 entry/ exit points of the Western Province yesterday. (NewsWire)
