Four Ministers at Olympics: Govt. says funded by private sector sponsors

Three State Ministers have accompanied the Sports Minister to attend the Tokyo Olympic Games in Japan on the funds granted by sponsors and not under the expense of the Government, Cabinet co-spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella clarified today.

He told reporters today that the overseas visit has not affected the Government’s funds or the Treasury in any way.

State Ministers Thenuka Vidanagamage, DV Chanaka and Roshan Ranasinghe have accompanied Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa for the event.

When inquired by a reporter if the visit of the three State Ministers was not considered an unwanted expense, Cabinet co-spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said the expense was borne by several sponsors from the private sector.

He reiterated that this did not have an impact on the Government’s funds or the Treasury. (NewsWire)
