The ongoing strike by teachers and principals will be continued, the Ceylon Teachers Union General Secretary Joseph Stalin said today.
He said the strike will continue as discussions held with the Government, including Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Temple Trees today, to solve the issues on salary anomalies had failed.
The Ceylon Teachers Union has been engaged in a protest for 16-days over salary anomalies since the islandwide travel restriction in the country due to COVID-19 was lifted in June.
Meanwhile, Cabinet co-spokesman Minister Ramesh Pathirana today announced that the initial step to eradicate the salary anomalies of teachers and principals will be implemented.
He told reporters today that the initial step to resolve the issue will be implemented in the next budget. (NewsWire)
