A five-year-old girl has died after a pickup truck veered off the road and crashed into a house in the Mangalapura area in Wanathawilluwa.
The Police said the accident had occurred when the truck was travelling at high speed from Eluwankulama to Puttalam.
The pickup truck which had crashed into the house is said to have run over the child, who was in the verandah, killing her on the spot.
According to reports, two others are also reported to have been run over by the vehicle during the incident.
A 20-year-old youth and a 38-year-old woman who also sustained serious injuries in the accident are currently receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital.
The Police have revealed that the driver of the vehicle had driven under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. (NewsWire)
