Ranil submits amendments to No-Confidence Motion tabled against Gammanpila

United National Party (UNP) Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has proposed amendments to the No-Confidence Motion tabled against Minister Udaya Gammanpila in Parliament today.

The opposition submitted the no- confidence motion against Minister Gammanpila over the recent hike in fuel prices.

The no- confidence motion will be taken up for debate for two-days, starting from today.

Issuing a statement, the UNP said the amendments proposed by MP Wickremesinghe were handed over to the Secretary-General of Parliament this morning.

The former Prime Minister pointed out in his proposal that this Parliament resolves that it has no confidence in the competence of Minister of Energy Udaya Gammanpila and all other Ministers in the Cabinet to function as Cabinet Ministers any longer.

In accordance with Standing Order 43 the MP gave Notice of the following amendments to the Motion of no-confidence in Minister Gammanpila

1. In line 37, delete the word “Energy” and add the words “Energy and all other Ministers in the Cabinet”.
2. In line 37, delete the words “Cabinet Minister” and add the words “Cabinet Ministers” (NewsWire)
