Minister Wimal Weerawansa says that certain decisions had to be taken considering the current foreign reserve crisis the country is going through.
The minister was responding journalists who questioned his stance as someone who was against the MCC agreement, regarding selling shares to an American firm to run a LNG power plant in Norachcholai.
“You cannot call it as giving to America. It is given to an American company. Only the shares of the finance ministry has been given to them. Other shares including the ones belonging to CEB have not been granted to the said company” the minister said.
“Certain decisions had to be taken considering the foreign reserve crisis the country is going through currently. The President shared this with the Cabinet, as reasons to justify these decisions” he went on to say.
