Former Sri Lanka MP Duminda Silva who was given a special Presidential pardon met Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today.

Former parliamentarian Duminda Silva who was sentenced to death was released under a special presidential pardon on June 24th.
The UN and human rights groups had criticised Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s decision to pardon a convicted murderer, warning it undermines the rule of law.
Goverment defended the move saying the Presidential Commission Investigating Political Victimisation had issued a decision saying that Duminda Silva should be released. (NewsWire)
