Health employee involved in accident detected with Covid

Four health workers have been injured after the ambulance that was transporting them to the Walasmulla Base Hospital had met with an accident early this morning.

The ambulance had met with an accident while it was returning to the Walasmulla Base Hospital after transporting Covid patients to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital in Galle.

The ambulance had veered off the road and crashed at a bend in the Demagama area along the Hakmana – Walasmulla Road at around 1.30 am today, due to the driver falling asleep on the wheel.

Among the four injured health workers travelling in the ambulance, one had tested positive for COVID-19 after being subjected to PCR tests upon being admitted to the Walasmulla Base Hospital following the accident. (NewsWire)
