The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) has called on the Health Ministry to launch an immediate probe into the irregularities in the Epidemiology Unit and the Covid vaccination programme.
In a letter addressed to Health Services Director General Dr. Asela Gunawardene, the GMOA said an incident on the wastage of approximately 800-1000 doses of the AstraZeneca Covishield vaccine has been brought to light by the media.
The GMOA further said upon inquiring on the incident, it was found that technically incorrect guidelines had been issued by the Epidemiology Unit on the 28th of January with regard to the vaccination drive which had resulted in the mishandling of the vaccine doses. (NewsWire)
