A group of guests who had attended the birthday party of event organizer Chandimal Jayasinghe at the Shangri-La hotel in Colombo on Sunday have been arrested.
The Police said the suspects were arrested today and will be produced in court.
Chandimal Jayasinghe and model Piumi Hansamali were arrested yesterday for organizing and hosting the party in violation of the quarantine law.
They were, however, released on a personal bail of Rs. 1 million each after being produced in court.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said investigations are underway to identify the guests who had attended the party, adding that 20-25 people had participated in the event.
He said that 06 people have already been identified and steps will be taken to arrest and produce them in court.
DIG Ajith Rohana also said that legal action will be taken against the Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo for hosting the party, despite a ban imposed on public gatherings and parties due to the coronavirus pandemic in the country. (NewsWire)
