Public help sought to locate missing Covid patient from Colpetty hospital

A patient infected with the coronavirus went missing from a private hospital in Colpetty last evening, the Police said.

Police Spokesman, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajith Rohana said that the patient is a resident of Ampara and identified as M.Rikas

The Police requested the public to inform the Kollupitiya OIC on 0718591579 if they have any information about him.

Meanwhile an inmate at the Boossa Prison in Galle who had tested positive for COVID-19 has escaped from custody yesterday

Prisons Spokesman Chandana Ekanayake said the prisoner had escaped while being transported to a Covid treatment centre.

He said the man was being transported in a bus to the Angunakolapelessa Covid Treatment Centre by prison officials.

The inmate is reported to have escaped by jumping out through the window of the bus that was transporting him.

Chandana Ekanayake said a special operation has been launched to apprehend the Covid infected inmate. (NewsWire)
