The Maldives Police has launched an investigation into the explosion that targeted former President and current Speaker of the Maldives Mohamed Nasheed, treating it as an urgent priority.
The Maldives Police Service said two experts from the Australian Federal Police are also set to arrive in the country to assist in the investigations on the incident which took place yesterday.
Meanwhile, the ADK hospital in which Nasheed is currently being treated has revealed that the former President had undergone a successful final, critical, life-saving procedure this afternoon.
The Hospital further said over the course of the past 16 hours Nasheed had life-saving surgery on injuries to his head, chest, abdomen and limbs, adding that he remains in a critical condition in intensive care. (NewsWire)
