The charred remains found in Ratthota recently has been identified as that of a man reported missing in Wellawaya.
The Police said the charred remains were found in Ratthota on 21st April.
Investigations had later found that a 46-year-old building contractor from Wellawaya had been reported missing since 17th April.
He was found to have been operating his business from Colombo and had been found to have last visited his office in the Thalahena area.
The Police had found blood stains on the wall and the floor of the victim’s office in Thalahena.
Further investigations into the technical and circumstantial evidences have revealed that the victim had been murdered by two suspects and his charred remains had been abandoned in Ratthota.
The Police said one suspect has been identified as an employee of the deceased contractor, while the other suspect is a friend of the employee.
The friend of the employee has been arrested, while the employee is reportedly evading arrest.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the chief suspect had murdered the contractor over a long-standing salary dispute.
The Thalangama Police is conducting further investigations into the murder. (NewsWire)
