Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Harin Fernando today filed a Fundamental Rights application with the Supreme Court seeking an order to prevent his arrest.
Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is currently questioning MP Harin Fernando’s sister in connection to the ongoing investigations into the 2019 Easter attacks.
Chief Government Whip and Minister Johnston Fernando told Parliament last week that the CID wanted to question SJB MP Harin Fernando over some contradictory statements the latter made with regard to the Easter Sunday terror attacks.
“we remember that he said soon after the attacks that he had received a warning of an imminent attack from his father. But if you go through the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry, you may find MP Fernando said he had received the warning from his elder sister. There are many such contradictory statements he had made. So, the CID has to question him on them,” Minister Johnston Fernando said.
MP Harin Fernando last Friday informed the CID that he is unable to report as he is currently receiving treatment over a heart ailment. (NewsWire)
