26th April : Nine updates on current COVID situation in Sri Lanka

  • 952 COVID-19 patients detected in Sri Lanka today, bringing the total number of cases to 102,331 & active infection count to 7,110
  • 266 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals today, bringing the total recoveries to 94,577
  • 10 Grama Niladhari Divisions were isolated today including areas in Gampaha & Kalutara district.
  • All schools, pre schools and Pirivens in the Western and North Western provinces were closed until 30th April
  • 15 schools in the Moneragala, Siyambalanduwa & Buttala education zones will remain closed until 30th April
  • The head office of Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment at Battaramulla, will be closed on April 27 & 28 due to an employee testing positive for Covid
  • Heads of all Government institutions have been empowered to decide on the number of employees needed to attend office from tomorrow – Secretary, Ministry of Public Administration
  • Dambulla Economic Centre will be isolated for two weeks from today – Army Commander
  • Steps have been taken to increase the capacity of Intensive Care Units order to address the shortage of ICU beds forĀ  COVID-19 patients in hospitals islandwide – Minister Sudarshani
