Former President Maithripala Sirisena today responded to the recent statement made with regard to him by the Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith.
Speaking to reporters, Sirisena said he was saddened by the Archbishop’s comments.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) General Secretary said there seems to be political influence in the statement made by the Cardinal.
Archbishop Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith called on the Government to take legal action against former President Maithripala Sirisena.
Following the Easter Sunday mass over the weekend, he pointed out that Sirisena has been found guilty in the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry on the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks. (NewsWire)
