The real force behind the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks must be identified, without blaming former President Maithripala Sirirsena or Venerable Galagodatthe Gnanasara Thero who were not behind it, State Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara insisted.
Commenting on the Easter attacks investigations, Minister Jayasekara said that it is important to identify the force behind the suicide bombers who staged the attacks.
He questioned as to who would have benefited from assassinating former President Maithripala Sirisena who was in power at the time, and President Gotabaya Rajapaksa who was vying to become the next President of Sri Lanka.
He mentioned this referring to the phone recordings of Namal Kumar, who allegedly exposed an assassination attempt on former President Maithripala Sirisena.
The Sri Lanka Freedom Party General Secretary further said it is evident that the suicide bombers were not the masterminds of the terror attacks, and questioned as to who was the force or country that had such a motive at the time.
