An individual wanted over the robberies of handbags in the Maharagama, Kohuwela, Piliyandala and Boralesgamuwa areas has been arrested by the Boralesgamuwa Police.
Investigations have revealed that the suspect had snatched the handbags from unsuspecting women using a three-wheeler stolen from Hambantota.
The Police said interrogations of the suspect have revealed information on 13 thefts conducted so far.
Nearly 16 mobile phones have been recovered from the stolen handbags, while the suspect had confessed that he had utilized the money to obtain heroin.
The suspect, who is a 23-year-old resident of Katukurunduwatte in Ratmalana, will be produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court. (NewsWire)
