SJB commends two Govt. decisions, hopes it will be properly implemented

The Opposition has commended certain key decisions taken by the Government in the recent past.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Head of Operations Harin Fernando said the Committee on Public Enterprises’ (COPE) decision to repatriate Sri Lankan migrant workers using Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment funds, and the President’s decision to halt Police promotions are commendable.

According to the Daily Mirror, MP Fernando told a media briefing that the SJB is happy that the President has addressed the issues surrounding Sri Lankan migrant workers, which was repeatedly raised by the Opposition.
He further said the President should ensure that the decisions are implemented in a proper manner.

Pointing out that the Head of State only has another 1022 days under his tenure, MP Harin Fernando said the President should take into consideration criticisms and make sure that the correct decisions are implemented.

Commenting on the East Container Terminal of the Colombo Port, MP Fernando said former President Maithripala Sirisena was right in opposing the involvement of a private company for development purposes.

Responding to questions on United National Party members Navin Dissanayake and Arjuna Ranatunga, SJB MP Fernando said they are welcome to join the party as they are clean politicians.

He further said the SJB is open to accepting all UNPers, except two members who have been accused of corruption. (NewsWire)
