WATCH : Opposition questions Cabinet decision to implement political victimization Commission recommendations

The Opposition today questioned the cabinet’s decision to implement recommendations made by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) appointed to probe incidents of political victimization.

The cabinet announced today that approval has been granted for the proposal submitted by the President to present the final report of the PCoI on political victimization between January 2015 – November 2019 to Parliament and take necessary steps to implement the decisions and recommendations in the report.

Commenting on the cabinet’s decision in Parliament today, Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Harin Fernando questioned as to how the cabinet could grant approval for matters that should be addressed by the judiciary.

Responding to a statement made by Minister of Agriculture Mahindanada Aluthgame, the MP said this was a clear abuse of power. (NewsWire)
