WATCH : 4 arrested over Mawanella rock quarry explosive theft

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) have arrested four suspects from Peradeniya for the theft of explosive from a rock quarry in Mawanella, DIG Ajith Rohana said.

CID and the State Intelligence Service launched an investigation into the theft of a stock of explosives last week.

The Police said 15 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, 750 grams of water-gel explosive, 20 detonators, and 35 metres of detonator cord were among the missing explosives.

“Missing explosive materials were also found and we can confirm that no extremists organisation were behind them” DIG Ajith Rohana said. (NewsWire)
