The driver of Sri Lanka’s late State Minister Sanath Nishantha, injured in the fatal crash, has been remanded in custody until February 5th by the Welisara Magistrate’s Court.
Driver Prabhath Eranga has reportedly given a statement to police, describing overtaking a car from left and hitting a container truck while rushing to Colombo.
State Minister Nishantha and his security guard, Police Constable Anuradha Jayakody, tragically died in the accident on Thursday, January 25th.
In a tribute, Constable Jayakody has been posthumously promoted to the rank of Sergeant. (NewsWire)
