Innovative open school system introduced in Central Province

Students from schools in the Central Province that were unable to reopen due to the coronavirus pandemic have been permitted to attend schools nearest to their residences.

The decision has been approved by Central Province Governor Lalith U. Gamage and implemented as a temporary solution to the issue.

A request by a group of parents from the Principal of Menikdiwela MadyaMahaVidyalaya to allow their children to attend the school had been forwarded to the Central Province Governor.

He had thereafter approved the request following discussions with the Central Province Education authorities.

Following a recent visit to the Menikdiwela MadyaMahaVidyalaya, the Governor had noted that the strategy was fruitful and students of various schools were maintaining a cordial relationship.

Pointing out the success of this program, Central Province Governor Lalith U. Gamage said he hoped this could be implemented in other Provinces as well to assist affected school students. (NewsWire)
