An Elephant calf has died after getting hit by an SUV near the Katuwewa junction Hambabthota, on the Matara- Tissa main road.
This accident has occurred last night ( 10th) while another calf had died just a week earlier close to the same location after getting hit by a tipper truck.
Lack of road signs indicating the areas of constant elephant movements/ crossings has been identified as the main reason for these kind of accidents. (NewsWire)
