Residents of Halgahawatte which is an isolated area in Wanathamulla, Borella staged a protest today over the lack of essential goods.
The residents charged that the even though two locations were setup to provide essential goods for the residents, the goods were being provided at a higher price.
They further said that despite receiving Rs.5000 from the Government they were unable to purchase essential goods.
However, the Officer-in-Charge of the Borella Police arrived at the location and reached out to the area Divisional Secretary, following which the residents were promised of a solution within the next 02-days. (NewsWire)
