Sri Lankan drug trafficker who had close contacts with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim arrested in India

Sri Lankan drug trafficker Sunil Gamini Fonseka alias ‘Katta’ Gamini has been arrested from his hideout in Bengaluru by the ‘Q’ branch of the Tamil Nadu police.

He has been remanded in judicial custody.

The man, who was awarded death penalty in a drug trafficking case, escaped from Sri Lanka. He had illegally stayed in Pudupakkam near Kancheepuram for six months.

Fonseka was involved in murders besides drug trafficking in several countries including Sri Lanka. He reportedly has close contacts with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and other international drug traffickers. at Pudupakkam posing as an entrepreneur.

When officials began tracking his movements, he fled to Bengaluru. (Times of India)
