Colombo Mayor announces measures taken after detection of COVID patient

The Colombo Municipal Council has announced measures taken to assist the public following the detection a coronavirus patient at its office on Deans Road in Maradana.

Mayor of the CMC Rosy Senanayake said the Public Assistance Department of the CMC in Maradana has been closed with immediate effect and will remain closed for 14 days.

The CMC has also restricted access to its Town Hall office in Colombo as a precautionary measure after associates of the COVID patient were reported to have visited the premises.

Senanayake said the following measures have been taken by the CMC to assist the public amidst the latest development.

1. All applications can be handed over at the Shapiri Piyasa (Single Window Counter) in the building behind the main Town Hall Building.

2. Arrangements have been made to courier all City Planning Department approved certificates.

3. Payments can be made via banks and online.

4. Essential services including Public Health Department, solid waste management, city cleanliness and safety measures will continue as normal.

5. All dispensaries run by the CMC will continue to function and all drugs are available.

6. The Public Health Department will continue to play its frontline role in PCR testing assisting and assisting in quarantining operations within the City. (NewsWire)
