Issuing a statement, PickMe Sri Lanka said a locally built contact tracing technology as per global standards has been in place within the PickMe fleet since the coronavirus outbreak in March this year.
The statement comes in response to Police Spokesman SDIG Ajith Rohana’s recent request for drivers of three- wheelers and taxi services, and passengers to maintain a log of their travels to make contact tracing easy as a result of the pandemic.
“Contact tracing is an important aspect of our response to implementing safety precautions, whether it’s your ride or food. By using this technology and tracking all fleet movements, we are able to ensure that our entire community is kept safe, while enabling you to move safer,” PickMe Sri Lanka added.
PickMe was among the first organizations to extend support during the islandwide lockdown since March, by delivering essential goods. Conducting daily temperature checks of drivers, publishing it on the mobile application for the benefit of passengers, and launching the hotline 1331 to assist emergency travel needs of the public, are among other assistance provided by PickMe since March, 2020.
