Doctor attached to Gampaha General Hospital tests positive for COVID-19

A doctor attached to the Gampaha General Hospital has tested positive for COVID-19.

Deputy Director of the hospital Dr. Priyantha Ileperuma said that the doctor is believed to have been infected after treating employees from the apparel factory in Minuwangoda.

A new COVID-19 cluster was detected in Minuwangoda after employees of the apparel factory were detected with COVID-19.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the doctor had treated a group of employees from the factory at his private clinic.

Dr. Ileperuma said measures have been taken to transfer the infected doctor to the National Institute of Infectious Deceases (IDH). (NewsWire)
