The Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) has responded to allegations raised by the Chilaw Marians Cricket Club (CMCC) on its players being approached by former/ current SSC players.
In a letter to the SLC, the CMCC had claimed that two of its players were approached by current/ former players of the SSC and third parties.
It pointed out that there was an understanding between first-class clubs not to poach players from other clubs by unethical methods.
Responding to the allegations, the SSC clarified in a letter to the CMCC that there was no such agreement between clubs.
It also pointed out that SSC’s Oshada Fernando joined the CMCC for the 2017/2018 cricket season, but the SSC was not officially informed by the CMCC on the acquisition. (NewsWire)
