Minister of Justice Ali Sabry has vowed to put an end to child marriage in Sri Lanka.
The Minister said delegations representing Muslim women have brought the issue to his attention during multiple meetings.
He further pointed out that individuals with extremist views are found in all societies, adding that the Government intends to trace such individuals and rehabilitate them.
The Minister of Justice also highlighted the importance of nurturing Buddhism as per Sri Lanka’s Constitution, stating that it was the responsibility of all Sri Lankans irrespective of race or religion.
Minister Sabry made the observations while paying a courtesy call on the Chief Prelates of the Asgiriya and Malwatta Chapters on Saturday (29). (Newswire)
