Former Sri Lanka Cricket Captain Tilakaratne Dilshan says he withdrew from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) national list early last month.
Dilshan’s name was not included in the SLPPs 17 member National List sent to the Election Commission.
Speaking to NewsWire Dilshan said he sent a letter to the President, Prime Minister and SLPP founder Basil Rajapksa informing his decision to withdraw from the National List.
“I felt my slot should go to some one more deserving. I spent lot of time playing Cricket so I would like to now spend sometime with my family. So I thought the best decision is to not enter active politics at this moment” said Dilshan.
“I did my best to campaign to get the President elected, I am very happy how President Gotabaya is leading the country.”, Dilshan added. (NewsWire)
