- 02 deaths reported from Kegalle due to adverse weather. 48 year old man washed away by strong currents & 65 year old woman buried alive under an earth embankment, Disaster Management Center said.
- National Building Research Organization (NBRO) issued landslide warnings for 8 districts – Galle, Matara, Matale, Ratnapura, Kalutara, Kegalle, Colombo, Kurunegala and Kandy today (16).
- Nearly 45,000 consumers are experiencing electricity breakdowns in Ratnapura, Kegalle, Galle, Matara, Kurunegala and Hambantota districts, says the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).
