National Dengue Eradication Movement says that 11 districts are in risk according to the number of dengue infected cases reported.
These 11 high risk districts are Colombo, Gampaha, Kaluthara, Kandy, Galle, Jaffna, Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Ratnapura, Kegalle and Ampara (Kalmunai).
100 Dengue patients were identified in the first 09 days in the month of May. However, the entire number of dengue patients reported in April was 413.
A research scientist has stated that larvae of dengue mosquitoes are found mostly around fisheries boats and construction sites. However, Minister of Health Mrs. Pavithra Wanniarachchi has instructed the officials of the Ministry of Heath to conduct cleaning operations at construction site premises.
An island-wide dengue eradication week has also been planned to be conducted in the month of June.
