With the curfew being relaxed in most parts of the country today long queues were seen outside wine stores which were opened after more than a month.

According to The Morning Newspaper Government has lost billions of rupees in losses in terms of revenue due to the ban on liquor sales.
Deputy Commissioner of Excise Kapila Kumarasinghe had told The Morning Newspaper that the department had incurred a loss of over Rs. 500 million per day during the curfew period.
Usually the months of December and April are considered high-revenue-generating months for the Excise Department, he said.
He added that every year the department sees a hike in its revenue specially from mid-March to mid-April due to the New Year.
