Construction Partners of Ritz Carlton, the Shougang Group of Beijing Donates 12 Tonnes of Medical Supplies to Sri Lanka

Solidifying the long-standing relationship between the Chinese business fraternity and Sri Lanka, the construction team of Ritz Carlton, the Shougang Group of Beijing donated 12 tonnes of disinfectant to the Government of Sri Lanka as aid in the battle against the COVID-19 outbreak,

The Shougang Group, headquartered in Beijing is a Top-500 Chinese enterprise with a history of nearly a century since being established in 1919. At present, the organization operates over 600 subsidiaries, employing 90,000 employees.

In Sri Lanka, the Shougang Group has undertaken the prestigious assignment of constructing the Ritz Carlton, the luxury development located in Colombo 02.

“The essential medical items donated by the Shougang Group have already been sent to the Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medicine Services of Sri Lanka for utilization against the spread of COVID-19. I and my team in the Embassy appreciate your timely thinking to donate these items in our hour of need,” commented K.K. Yoganaadan, Acting Ambassador of Sri Lanka to China in a letter.

The Shougang Group has continued to maintain cordial relations with its stakeholders in Sri Lanka and remains invested in the well being of the country including its large workforce currently located in the country. The management of the Group has promised continued support to be extended towards the island in the months to come.

“I would like to extend my sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Shougang Group along with my sincere belief that we can win this fight against COVID-19 together,” concluded Janaki Siriwardhana, CEO/MD of the OneTranswork (Pvt) Ltd.
