Leader of the National Peoples Power (NPP) MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake has raised objections to the allocations in the Budget 2024 for former Presidents Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Addressing the Parliament yesterday, MP Dissanayake said as per the Budget 2024, a sum of Rs. 110 million has been allocated for former Presidents, an increase from the Rs. 84 million that was allocated in the previous budget.
MP Dissanayake pointed out that the names of Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Mahinda Rajapaksa are among the former Presidents who are eligible for this budget allocation.
Stating that the Supreme Court had recently held the two former Presidents responsible for Sri Lanka’s economic crisis, MP Dissanayake said it was their stance that financial allocations should not be made for them, given the court’s verdict. (NewsWire)
